I observed and completed a variety of technology and media activities this week. I spent time at CVES this week. Lora Wood, the Media Specialist, created a document on reading levels for the students. The students are tested and given a reading level from A - Z. The teachers ask them to read books in their level. Lora created a smore.com flyer with step-by-step instructions to find books by reading level. The library is not organized by reading level, but the library catalog allows students to enter their reading level and print a list of books in that reading level. She gave the students a tutorial using the flyer and she sent it to teachers. Lora also began new lessons for the month of March. We are in the last quarter of the school year and Lora chose to give technology lessons that prepared the students for their next step. The 5th grade lessons will prepare the students for using the Surface in the 6th grade. Lora explores One Note & Office 365 with the students. She also teaches them to multi-task on a surface (toggle between MacInvia for research and Office 365 for an assignment). The fourth grade lesson will prepare the students for the projects in 5th grade. Lora trains the students on Microsoft Sway and saving in Office 365.
This week at AHS I researched Safari Montage. The school has chosen to use Safari Montage and I wrote an information piece for the teachers. This is the first time I have heard the name Safari Montage. I enjoyed this task because I researched a technology tool I knew nothing about.

Pam asked me to write up a small piece on book recommendations for teachers. These are books I chose to recommend. I have read all of these books. I tried to choose a variety of books to appeal to all teachers.

The students are taking a EOC (End of Course Testing) in April. The testing will completely done on their individual Microsoft Surface. I observed during a day the school had a technology check. Different classes rotated through the cafeteria. A teacher worked with the students in a large group to make sure they had the current updates, the application for the testing, etc.
